Paul Teshima, CEO and Co-founder, Nudge
I wrote this post to share how I use Nudge everyday. Click here to login and follow along!
6:00AM
Wake up, think about going back to sleep, and then remember sleep is overrated.
6:00AM - 8:00AM
Sometime in here, between a run, and getting kids ready for school, I review my Daily Outlook email:
Recent Interactions: I check and see if I owe any follow-ups for my recent interactions, I owe Jacoline Loewen a response, so good thing Nudge reminded me to do that.
Contacts in the News: I see that two people I need to stay in touch with are in the news, Laura Ramos, VP at Forrester, and Jon Miller, founder and CEO of Engagio.
I click on the article where Jon Miller is mentioned, read it, it’s a great article so I share it on twitter.
Trending Content: I do a quick scan to see if there are any interesting news stories that are coming out today, at this point in the day, I don’t typically share anything from here.
9:00AM - 11:00AM
Sometime in here, depending on my meetings and other priorities:
Now at work, I open up Nudge on my desktop and I take a quick look at my Nudge Dashboard on the home page. The dashboard is a great snapshot of my network:
- I look at new people I can invite to Collaborate, because by collaborating with people, I can see who has strong relationships at my targeted accounts and contacts. I invite Ryan Hubbard, who I used to work with back at Eloqua.
- I also look at who I am losing touch with, and either add them to my To Dos so I can send them a message OR add them to a list so I can engage them at a later time, when I am focusing on a specific group of people. I add Alec Levin to my list of Canadian Founders and Execs.
- I review how well I am maintaining my network week over week in my Network Growth chart, as always want to keep the bar above zero.
Then I focus on my outreach for sales activities by looking at two key lists on the main home page side bar:
- Nudge Targeted Accounts - I created list by loading a list of companies
- Nudge Targeted Accounts Contacts - I created this list by loading a list of contacts at those companies
I look at News and Social updates to see if there are any interesting updates at any of my targeted accounts
I see an update on a pwc article about the need to explore emerging technologies. This is a perfect piece to use as a reference as to why they should think about Nudge. I Like it and Retweet it right from Nudge.
With pwc top of mind, I also look at Relationships, to see who in my network has strong relationships with them. I see that Ralf Riekers knows 7 people at at pwc.
To see specifically who Ralf knows, I click over to the Companies tab, click on pwc to go to their specific company page, and then click on Relationships. I can see Ralf knows Sabrina Fitzgerald the best. I send Ralf an email asking for a quick chat to get more insight on pwc and Sabrina.
Trending Content Feed
I then switch to the Trending content area of Nudge and look for 1-3 articles to share. Because Nudge curates content based on topics I care about, I usually find them fairly quickly. I find 2 different articles and post one right away, and use buffer to queue one up for later.
11:00AM - 6:00PM
Will check Nudge time-to-time, on desktop and in my mobile app.
9:00PM
I usually take a quick look at my mobile app, and see if there is anyone I missed today that I should have reached out to.
I review my Nudge Daily Outlook email one more time, and then also look at my weekly growth score, which is a tracker to see if I have “net” grown my network this week. I am still behind (below zero in red), so know I have more work to do with the remaining 3 days in the week.
I then remember what a good friend told me about minding my ABCs, “Always Be Connecting” - Jill Rowley
